FedLock in Action: Exit Devices

by Stacey Simmons

Exit devices are an integral piece of hardware for life safety. The door can be locked to those on the outside, providing security, while allowing single-motion egress from the inside, providing safe passage out of the building in case of fire or emergency. This door is a clearly labeled exit in a hotel so it’s vital that guests can safely use this door in case of emergency.

Pictured below is our team replacing a basic, flat bar with an exit device. The door wasn’t latching properly – and in turn, wasn’t fire code compliant. The best solution was to replace the hardware. The exit device is an “all-in-one” product to latch and lock the door, as well as allow legally mandated egress.

Exit devices come in a variety of styles and finishes to meet your building aesthetic. They can replace existing hardware or it can be a fresh installation. Contact us if you have questions. We have experts who are here to assist!
