Preparing for Storm Season
It's been a rainy summer here in the DC area. With multiple tropical storms forming in the Atlantic, it doesn't look like we're done with wet weather anytime soon. It's important to keep doors and hardware in good shape to prevent leaks and humidity from seeping in.
First, the door should be square in the frame: no dragging, sagging, or scraping. If it's too close in one spot, the opposite point on the door will have a gap. This can be resolved by adjusting hinges or closers, or by installing a continuous hinge. Our clients love continuous hinges! They are a cost-effective, long term solution to many door issues.
Next, check the bottom of the door. Our technicians can install new thresholds or door sweeps to ensure a tight seal between the floor and the door. In a set of double doors, look for light or air peeking in between the doors. Weatherstripping or astragals can alleviate those problems.
A little preventive maintenance can go a long way. Whatever the situation, we're here to help! Contact us at service@flslock.com or 703-525-1436 to schedule.
