Tech Talk: Adam

Who better to ask about locks than the knowledgeable technicians who work on them every day? This month, we’re featuring Adam. He has 9 years of experience and is factory certified to work on numerous products, including exit devices, closers, and safe locks. Adam is very knowledgeable about doors and a great resource when we see a unique entry.

Q: What is your favorite type of lock to repair/replace? Why?
A: I really like the D line that Schlage manufactures. They are easy to work with and a very durable product.

Q: What advice would you give about home locks and why?
A: I prefer to key all the exterior locks to the same key. Then you don’t have to worry about finding multiple keys if you are in a hurry.

Q: What is the most memorable job you’ve completed? 
A: The most memorable job I have completed in the last 9 years was when I spent 3 months at a Northern Virginia hospital working on 199 different doors. There were a variety of issues so I had to do everything from replace hardware to troubleshoot problems with existing hardware. It was the longest job I have worked on. It was also the most interesting because there are areas within the building that the public doesn’t typically see but I was allowed in those spaces to complete repairs.
