Let’s take it back to the basics this week. What is required of EVERY fire door, no matter the types of hardware on it? All fire doors must be self-closing and self-latching.
Per NFPA 80 (6.4), a closing device is required on every fire door. The closer must be adjusted to ensure positive latching on each door operation. Closed doors prevent the spread of fire and smoke throughout more of the building.
