Fire Code Friday: Self-closing devices

by Stacey Simmons

Let’s review NFPA 101 (7.2.1.8 ) which states that doors in a means of egress shall be self-closing and shall not be secured in the open position. An exception is when the hold-open device becomes self-closing upon losing power.

You may have seen a something like the door pictured below. The magnet releases when the fire suppression system is activated. Do you have questions about fire doors or hardware? Call us!
