Today, we look at NFPA 101 (7.2.1.8 ) which states that doors in a means of egress shall be self-closing and shall not be secured in the open position. An exception is if the releasing mechanism is activated by approved smoke detectors installed per NFPA 72. Check back next week for additional information!
