Happy ADAiversary!
by Stacey Simmons
The Americans with Disabilities Act was signed into law on July 26, 1990. The ADA prohibits discrimination against people with disabilities in employment, public accommodations, commercial facilities, and government services. Over 41 million Americans have a disability and FedLock is here to ensure your building is accessible to all tenants, guests, and employees! A few changes that make doors more accessible for everyone to use:
- Switch out door knobs for levers.
- Maintain the appropriate pressure/force needed to open doors.
- Check that thresholds are secure and the correct height off the floor.
- Install auto operators on main entries, shared restrooms, and other common area doors.
