Tech Talk: John
Who better to ask about locks than the knowledgeable technicians who work on them every day? This month, we’re featuring John. He has 12 years of experience and has attended Allegion and LCN factory training to work on their numerous products.
Q: What is your favorite type of lock to repair/replace? Why?
A: My favorite type of locks to repair and replace are Schlage levers. Replacing lower quality hardware with Schlage, allows a durable, high quality product that will function properly for a long time.
Q: What advice would you give about locks to help clients in their everyday lives?
A: As far as home locks go, I recommend keeping it simple. Use quality hardware with keys cut by a locksmith. Poorly cut keys and low quality hardware can cost you a lot more when failure occurs. And, you could be locked out of your residence when it fails.
Q: What is the most memorable job you’ve completed?
A: I have had many memorable jobs. Working in the DC metro area, I have been to many high security government buildings, office buildings, churches, schools, apartment buildings and residences. The best memories are always the ones where I could gain access to locked doors for clients, and the happiness that they had afterwards.
