TGIFire Code Friday! A door in a means of egress must have a releasing device. Per NFPA 101 (7.2.1.5.10-12), these devices shall be located 34″-48″ above the finished floor and must not require more than one operation to release the door open. Those doors shall not have ANY additional locking device (padlock, deadbolt, etc).
